What you need to know about the FTC’s Safeguards Rule
The FTC amended the Standards for Safeguarding Customer Information Rule in 2021 to adapt to changes in technology and increased cybersecurity threats to financial institutions, including automotive dealerships. The revised rule provides guidance that businesses must follow to safeguard the private data of their customers.
Businesses that do not comply by June 9, 2023 could face penalties of up to $43,792 per violation.
